Greetings Bookworms,
It’s been a slow reading week, my friends. I’ve been working on Rebecca for The Fellowship of the Worms next week and I’m a little behind schedule. What else is new? Anyway, Rory (from Fourth Street Review) turned me onto this post from popculturenerd.com and I’m enamored. Using the books I’ve read so far this year as a guide, I’m going to complete the following sentences. It’s like a cross between Mad Libs and a list and chaos and I LOVE IT. Ready?!?!
My to do list looks like: Someday, Someday, Maybe. As in, Someday, Someday, Maybe I will accomplish something?
If a peeping Tom peeked into my bedroom, s/he’d: Tell The Wolves I’m Home. I mean, someone needs to tell them. The wolves, they worry.
If Martians met me they’d think: Why Do Only White People Get Abducted by Aliens? Sorry guys, Ilana Garon really set me up for that one.
My doctor is always telling me: Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls. That’s actually kind of a lie, because my doctor is typically more concerned about exploring my nostrils with the light up thingie, but we’re going to roll with it.
The weirdest thing that happened to me this week was: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. It turned out to be just a regular incident of a dog barking at a raccoon. Not everything turns out to be a mystery.
I often daydream about: The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor. Seriously, I do. I spend way too much time thinking about the natural decomposition rate of the human brain and how long it would take a zombie to die a natural death. I have issues.
If I won the lottery, I’d: Blackout. Seriously, I’m remarkably unlucky. I think a little swoonage might happen if I did win a big jackpot. And then I’d buy a big house with a designated library and sliding ladders!
My superpower is: Between You and Me. I don’t want to blow my secret identity, yo!
I knew I was a book lover when: I fell head first into The River of No Return. Books are addictive that way.
Any of you Bookworms want to play along with a statement of your own? How is your life according to books this year? (And BTW, don’t forget to email me your address if you’d like a holiday card and Words for Worms bookmark. International addresses welcome!)
Sarah Says Read
Ooooo Katie I’m so going to steal this idea from you (and Rory). My reading is at a snail’s pace right now with this darn job switch and whatnot. How are you liking Rebecca? Isn’t it all mysterious and awesome?
Words For Worms
OMG Rebecca- WHY is Mrs. Danvers so freaking creepy?! She’s all “heeeere rub the dead woman’s nightgown against your cheek” and I’m all “run away, run away now before they make a lampshade from your skin!”
Jennine G.
Ditto! Stealing this for a later date 🙂 Very cool idea! You have some good ones up there. I did a similar exercise once where you had to fill in the blanks with names of songs from your favorite band. I used Matchbox 20, so it was a lot of short answers.
Words For Worms
I think it’s a little easier to do with song titles, of course when I played it (way back in the dark ages of Myspace) I wasn’t limited to a single band… I don’t think… I’ll be looking forward to your version!
Andi (@estellasrevenge)
This is so fun!!!! Might have to sneak this in next week.
Words For Worms
Definitely! I want to see your responses. It was such a fun change of pace!
Rhian
What fun! I’ll post my whole list when I’ve come up with it, but my first one is –
My to do list looks like: The Road to Bedlam.
Words For Worms
Haaaa! I love that. Oye. To-do lists… They never end.
Megan M.
This is genius! My To Do List Looks Like: “Dying to Get Published.” Self-explanatory.
If a Peeping Tom peeked into my bedroom, he’d: Be “Long Gone.” Nothing to see here, people!
If Martians Met Me They’d Think: “Speak.” I’m just not comfortable talking to people/aliens I just met.
My Doctor is Always Telling Me: “Size 14 is Not Fat Either.” (A girl can dream, right?)
The Weirdest Thing That Happened to Me This Week Was: “Sister.” It wasn’t a weird thing, it was an exciting thing – I found out my sister is pregnant! Woohoo!
I Often Daydream About: “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.” Don’t bother me, I’m introverting.
If I Won the Lottery, I’d: Be “On The Island” before you can blink!
My Superpower Is: “Wonder.” I learn so much from being curious about everything.
I Knew I Was a Book Lover When: For me, books are “Where the Heart Is.” The right ones tell you what humanity is doing right in a world where the wrong seems overwhelming.
Words For Worms
LOL- this is so fantastic. I’m on board with “Size 14 is Not Fat Either”. Fabulous. And YAY Aunt Megan!!! Aunting is my FAVORITE!
Allison @ The Book Wheel
I’m starting to wonder whether you read some of these books on purpose so that you were able to fill out such amazing answers 😉
Words For Worms
Haaa! I was just so dang excited to be able to work Why Do Only White People Get Abducted by Aliens into it. That was really the reason I decided to do it, because that was the most perfect answer for the Martians!
Jan
This is great! I’m going to have to go now and try to think of how I’d answer these!
Words For Worms
It’s so much fun! You’ll have a blast.
Samantha
I love these, they’re so fun! Book memes are the spice of reading life. Am I right? 😛 WordPress has been mean lately and has been linking every one of your posts back to an old one from a few months ago. But I made it here today! 😛
Words For Worms
Sigh. WordPress.com is probably mad at me for switching to self hosted. 🙁 Glad you managed to get here, though!
kristinshafel
Fun! I just did mine 🙂
Words For Worms
I love it! I left you a little message there 🙂
Silvia
I love this! I looked through the ones you were inspired by, there’s such cool questions and answers!
The books I’ve read so far this year don’t work with these questions at all – I think I have to read a few more. Hmm, what title to pick… 😉
Rebecca @ Love at First Book
Oh my gosh that is the best! I love this. Because, you know, the wolves. . . they worry.
Words For Worms
🙂 Thanks
alisa selene
I need to read the walking dead tie-in!
Words For Worms
Oh it’s delightful, I mean, in a squishy zombie guts way…
Melinda
I like this list! I also have bad luck winning things 🙂
Leah @ Books Speak Volumes
This is so much fun! I remember doing something like this with song titles on Facebook many years ago, but your answers actually make sense! (It’s also my dream to have a library with sliding ladders. But then I would just reenact Beauty and the Beast all day and never get anything done.)
Words For Worms
I’d set time aside each day for Beauty and the Beast time… I’d sing, and it would be dreadful, as I cannot sing… But I would have so much fun!
Rory
So I dream about The Walking Dead and zombies too. Probably more than I should. My rough plan is to go the island route. Hopefully clear the island and then fingers crossed that zombies can’t swim or walk under water.
Words For Worms
Did you watch last night?! You might be in trouble with the island concept!
Wendy @ Wensend
This one is awesome. Think I’m going to do this at the end of the year 😉
Words For Worms
It was so fun!
It's A Dome Life
I love this. I hope you do it again. It’s funny. Also, I haven’t read any of these books which means I need to get reading. I have a few of these on my “to-read” list and now a few more to add.
The library ladder thing is a dream of mine too.
Words For Worms
Thanks Lily! 🙂
