Howdy Bookworms!

Today is a day of celebration. That’s right. One year ago today I published my very first blog post. It’s been a fabulous, fun journey and I’m SO GRATEFUL to you, my readers, for, well, reading my nonsense. Huzzah!

Because a birthday is nothing without presents, I’m doing a giveaway! I’ve had some tricks up my sleeve since BlogHer. While I was in the land of swag, I did not forget my faithful little bookworms! First things first. While at BlogHer I was afforded the opportunity to see a new movie called AustenlandI can’t tell you if it was any good or not, because due to things running behind schedule (cough cough Queen Latifah) I arrived once the film was already 20 minutes in. However! The ladies running the booth felt for my plight (they obviously had your best interest at heart as well.) They allowed me to take home this BEAUTIFUL t-shirt, for the dedicated Austenites among us.

It's a size large, and perfect for surfacing from lakes.

But that’s not all! You’ll also win these kickass pins showing your undying adoration for Rainbow Rowell! Fangirl and Eleanor and Park could be emblazoned on your breast from here to eternity. I know, can hardly contain yourself at this point…

Seriously, how cool are those?! I also managed to snag y’all a copy of the super sweet Walking Dead novelization. It talks about that sneakiest of sneaks, the Governor. You know I can’t get enough zombie lore and gore!

You will also receive a $25 Amazon Gift Card. Oh you didn’t hear that? I said, YOU ALSO GET A $25 AMAZON GIFT CARD!!! And an official Words for Worms bookmark (I had too many printed, okay? You read. You need bookmarks. Don’t lie.)

So, how do you win this amazing prize package of awesomeness?!?! Be a US resident. I’m so very sorry to my super amazing international readers, but shipping, you know? Here’s how to enter:

1. “Like” Words for Worms on Facebook (if you already like me, FREE entry for you!) https://www.facebook.com/WordsForWorms

5. Leave an awesome comment on this blog telling me your favorite Words for Worms post! (I know, it’s completely self serving, but I’m curious, and there’s only so much that can be written on the evils of coleslaw.)

This can be YOURS! Along with $25 to spend at Amazon!!!

I think my favorite post was about Tell the Wolves I’m Home. Just because I looooovvve the book that much! Oh and pretty much Any post where you refer to us as ya’ll (you’re so cute! ) And of course I loved our first book club Discussion because I NAMED THE BOOK CLUB YA’LL!

    • Rory

Same. I adored Tell the Wolves I’m Home and I need (yes, need) other people to adore it as well – it’s that good.

  2. Charleen

*sigh* You mean I have to REMEMBER your posts?! Probably any of the Top Ten Tuesday posts. You always keep them entertaining. Also, “Hey! I’ve Read That!” because it was fun seeing everyone’s reactions to this list. Or the book club post for The Thirteenth Tale. Or…

(Yeah, I kind of suck at this.)

  3. Liesel Hill

Happy Blogoversary! Thanks for the giveaway. I always look forward to your reviews because we feel the same way about a lot of things and I am often swayed by your opinions. Hope that’s not too vague. 😀

  4. Rhian

    Happy blogiversary!

I’m almost glad I’m ineligible because I couldn’t pick a favourite post. Thank you for being so entertaining while writing about my favourite thing. I look forward to many more anniversaries.

Now I hate to be a big pedantic pants, but 17 August is a Saturday (I know this because it is my birthday), so I’m assuming you mean Monday 19 August.

  5. Rory

Happy Blogiversary! Many there be many more years of penguin love and coleslaw hate and all will be right in the world.

  6. Jennifer @ The Relentless Reader

Hooray hooray! Happy blogoversary to one of my very favorite bloggers in the universe! One of my favorite posts of yours was about The World’s Strongest Librarian. First, I love that book. Second, you did too 🙂

I already like your FB page (https://www.facebook.com/TheRelentlessReader) and follow you on Twitter (@jenhartling) Now I’m off to share the love on both of those places.

Again, congrats! Keep up the awesome and funny work!

Love, The Supreme Duchess of Awesomeness

    • Jennifer @ The Relentless Reader

Can’t seem to tag you on the FB post. Just trust me, I did it! 😉

  7. Samantha

I really like your blog, and enjoy reading it. 🙂 Not a specific post, I suppose, but I always make it a point to read the Top Ten Tuesday posts. I like hearing your thoughts about specific books, characters, and authors.

I just liked your FB page, already follow you on Twitter, and tweeted about the contest, as well as reshared your FB post about this blog post. (Hope you can see it!)

Congrats on your bloggiversary! Yours is very close to mine!

  8. Jennine G.

Congrats! All these one year blogs are exciting! I personally like your Top Ten Tuesday posts. Lists related to books are always fun! Thanks for the amazing giveaway!

    • Jennine G.

I did all of the items listed above! I shared on two FB accounts too! I shared from your FB post, but it wouldn’t let me tag you in the post…it says “Shared via Words for Worms.”

  9. Elysa

How To Keep Katie From Reading Your Book (Top Ten Tuesday) is my favorite because this…

    8. Leopard Seals. Don’t expect me to have any sympathy at all for these penguin eating savages. These aren’t even the cute seals that sometimes get clubbed for coats or whatever. These are enormous, ugly, giant toothed villains of epic proportion. Circle of life my fanny. I’d embrace a world overrun by penguins.

You my bloggy friend are funny.

  10. Megan M.

Oooh! I like you on Facebook already! And I’m going to share and tag!

Hmm, I love a lot of your posts, but I guess my favorite would be your review of The Casual Vacancy because I think it was the very first post I commented on, and I loved the discussion and responses that that book spawned.

  11. Jolyse Barnett

Happy Blogiversary! I’ll pass on the awesome giveaway–since I’m a newbie to your wonderful blog–but want to send you my congrats!!! 🙂

  12. Kelly

My fave post EVER?? So hard to choose! I always love your Top 10 Tuesdays though. As well as any post about penguins and/or coleslaw…soooo most of them? Also I am biased, but I greatly enjoyed your guest post on my blog. 🙂
I follow on Twitter, like on FB, and tweeted!

  13. Shannon @ River City Reading

Congratulations on your blogiversary! I thought I was following your Facebook page already, so good thing this contest had me check! I am now 🙂 I also follow you on Twitter. I really like your Confession Friday posts – it’s about time for a new one!

  14. Leah

    Congratulations on this joyous occasion!

I follow you on Twitter and like your Facebook page. I don’t know if I can pick a favorite post ever! But my favorites are the Top 10 Tuesdays,

I must know, where did you get bookmarks printed?! I’ve been wanting to get blog bookmarks but am a chicken about going with some random internet printer 😛

  15. Sarah Says Read

Happy Blogoversary!!! I’m so happy you’re a blogger and that we share Outlander-love 🙂

Well I don’t have a FB anymore, but I already follow you on Twitter 😉 and I’ll tweet this post too. And don’t worry, I’m a bit self-serving too – I’m gonna say that my favorite post is your review of Bet Me, because it just makes me so darn happy when people like the books that I like 🙂 It makes me face smile.

  16. Rebecca

Happy blog birthday to you! I don’t really do FB or Twitter, but I do LOVE to read. I recently enjoyed your post about how to get Katie not to read your book. I must say, I heartily agree!

  17. April

Happy Happy Happy Blogiversary!! I adore you, your blog and books! Cheers to another 365 of beautiful posts and reads.

  18. Lori

Happy Happy Blogiversary!! Favorite blog definitely “Do you Hear the People Sing?” Your description of the prostitutues “delightfully gross”, “walking syphilis” killed me! BTW, I recently purchased Tell the Wolves I’m Home. Thank YOU very much.

Keep on keepin’ on girlie. You’re fab! Please put me on your Christmas card (bookmark) list 🙂

  19. Yamika

I probably won’t win (I have my luck and live in Nigeria, but my parents are in Atlanta, so I can wait till Christmas for me Darcy if that’s all right with you) I honestly, don’t have a favorite post, I know I open every link even if I understand the reference because I find you humorous and don’t mind rereading good stuff. I’m always happy when you like a book because the trauma of a bad book makes it hard for me to give unknown authors and books a chance. My coping mechanism is reading a book I know I love to banish bad book spirits and then I go back to my booklist.
So here’s my pitch, I love your blog! I thank the book saints that you got freshly pressed because that’s what brought you to me.
I have a booklist based completely on your say so (‘Fangirl’ and ‘Eleanor and Park’ are on the list so I know I really don’t deserve the pins… Yet, but I will get there) Also Amazon gift card is good on this side of the world.
My reaction to the Austenland trailer was something like this:
“I want to go to there…wait! Can I be black in Austen land? (Black guy in preview answered that)Also yes please to the Colin Firth’s Darcy cutout.”
At this point I had to call my sister so that she would explain to me how I am not Keri Russell’s character in real life (you can confirm this on my twit feed @yemzel on the 16th of July)… Oh and Happy anniversary!

Talk to me, Bookworms!
