Hey There Bookworms,
Today I turn 30 years old. I say “today” even though technically I’m writing this in the evening on March 21st. By the time this posts, I will already be 30. Though I made my entrance into this world at 4:02 am, I don’t make it a habit to either a. get up that early or b. stay up that late. So. I’m 30. More or less.
How do I feel about this? Not great. I really didn’t think turning 30 would be a big deal to me, but I’m kind of freaking out. I STILL don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. As you can see, my initial career ambition didn’t exactly work out…
But you know. Life happens. Thighs happen. You improvise. So. I am 30. And I have a choice. I can continue to wallow and mourn my lost youth, OR I can CELEBRATE! Guess who’s celebrating and looked freaking adorable in a tutu at 5? THIS GIRL!
There will be cake. Oh yes, there will be cake.

Or maybe I only get 2 because I honestly don’t know that I can pick a favorite cake! There are so many! But I guess I will take the easy way out and say chocolate. With chocolate frosting. (Ooh, or maybe chocolate/peanut butter frosting. Is that a thing? It should be a thing…) But really, as long as the cake is moist and the frosting is creamy, I don’t know there are many cake varieties I’d turn down.

As for the tutu’s, Chrissy has been hinting that we should get some to wear at BlogHer — she called hot pink and I called orange…but powdery pink is totally still available… As for cake, I love ALL cake. Especially the kind with lots of icing. Today my favorite would be a strawberry shortcake because I’m dying for winter to be over and spring/summer to get here fast!

My favorite cake.. lately I’ve had a crush-thing for cake pops of all flavors! They’re just so mini and cute and the perfect-size bite. Overall, though, I love the 2-layer Oreo cake I make for my husband’s birthday every year.

As someone who is turning 32 this year (yikes!) and has a husband that so kindly reminded her she’ll be 40 in about 8 years (double yikes!), I can say I have felt your pain and you will survive 🙂 ! And 30 isn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
My favorite cake? Just about anything without coconut! I adore chocolate, especially chocolate cakes with that rich, fudgy chocolate icing! Yum! But I also love a good carrot cake or spice cake with cream cheese icing. Or a nice tart lemon cake. Dang it, now I REALLY want cake!!

My mom makes this cake with a lime filling layered with fruit and covered with coconut that is to die for. I also like yellow cake with chocolate frosting. I just love cake. It’s impossible to choose one favorite. I’d probably need a taste testing. Happy Birthday! 30 was hard for me too. I am hoping 40 is an easier transition.

Happy birthday! I have enjoyed my 30s way more than my 20s. I feel like I’m really settling into myself now. So I sincerely hope you have a wonderful first year in your 30s.
I love pretty much every kind of cake, so choosing a favorite is just mean. But I have rum cake on my mind today, so I’m gonna have to go with that one. Tomorrow could be different!

Choosing a favorite cake is so hard! I guess I would have to say homemade chocolate cake, but ONLY my grandma’s recipe because I’m a cake snob like that. I kind of don’t like cake unless it is homemade – it just tastes different, you know?

You mean I can only choose one kind of cake? So I dig carrot cake, red velvet cake, German chocolate cake, my Grandma’s chocolate sheet cake, Cinnabon cinnamon roll cake, OK anything in a cupcake package I will eat. But last year I had this AH-maze cake – raspberry lime, as in lime zest in a white cake and there was this thin layer of raspberry preserves with a little creamy white icing between the layers. OH!! And a blueberry, lemon cake…Oh cake…Now I need cake!!

Though I love chocolate and lemon, I’m a sucker for cream cheese frosting, so I’d probably go with carrot cake. And happy, happy birthday! I am 35 and was just having a conversation the other day with a college friend about how our 30s have been *so much better* than our 20s.
