Happy Tuesday Bookworms!
This week the ladies of The Broke and the Bookish asked us to list out the top ten books we’d include in our beach bags… Which got me to thinking about beach bags, obviously. So instead of giving y’all a book list, I’m giving you a list of bookish beach bags! I’m a rebel, and a beach bag enthusiast.
1. Alice Tote from Modcloth: How can you not love an Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland bag? It’s so WHIMSICAL!
2. Jane Eyre tote from Modcloth: Jane Eyre is one of the best characters in all of literature, who wouldn’t want her emblazoned on a tote bag? (review)
3. Little Women tote from Modcloth: How much fun is this tote? Very cool design and Little Women. Love!
4. Penguin Classic Tote from Barnes & Noble: Clearly I have a bit of an affinity for this particular publisher, because, you know. PENGUINS.
5. Garden in Your Pocket Tote from Barnes & Noble: Gardens and books? I want to go to there.
6. Library Card Tote from Out of Print Clothing: Nostalgia for old school library cards? This tote has got you covered!
7. Banned Books Bag from Out of Print Clothing: In your FACE, book banners.
8. Jane Austen is my Homegirl tote from Cafepress: Jane Austen IS my homegirl.
9. Ravenclaw Bag from Universal Orlando: Don’t pretend that you haven’t given a lot of thought to your Hogwarts house. I’m Ravenclaw, through and through.
10. Words for Worms tote from Zazzle! You knew that was going to happen, didn’t you? The peekaboo octopus is not included. That now belongs to my fairy goddaughter.
Beach bags rule, especially if they’re bookish. What’s on your beach bag?

I love the bags. Every year the Edinburgh Bookfest has really awesome bags with book quotes on them. So far I have three.
Words For Worms
Fun! I wish I could teleport to the Edinburgh Bookfest, it sounds awesome!
Anne @ Lovely Literature
I just bought a bag on vacation that says “I like big books and I cannot lie” and the Jane Eyre one rocks my world. Nice collection!
Words For Worms
“I like big books and I cannot lie” is possibly my favorite song lyric pun of all time. Ever. Into the universe eternal.
Quirky Chrissy
I am definitely Gryffindor. That is all.
Words For Worms
Have you taken the Pottermore quiz? It’s not official until it’s official.
Amy
I love thag banned books bag! I also want the Poe-ka dot one from that same website!
Words For Worms
Oh, I almost picked the Poe-ka dot bag!
Shannon @ River City Reading
Love that you twisted this – the Jane Austen one is amazing 🙂
Words For Worms
Thanks! I want to buy ALL THE BAGS now. It’s a problem.
Megan M.
My beach bag has polka dots on it. That library card tote would be a perfect library bag! I’ve always thought I would be a Ravenclaw, but I took the very esteemed Sorting Hat test on Pottermore and it told me I was…. Slytherin. My mouth actually fell open.
Words For Worms
I’m very concerned now… I should probably check that out. Of course, the sorting hat takes your feelings into account, and I FEEL like a Ravenclaw… I’ll report back.
Words For Worms
WHEW! Pottermore put me in Ravenclaw. I suppose that’s official then :). It’s okay. Not ALL Slytherins are evil. You can be the nice one.
Megan M.
I’m that Slytherin that makes people go, “Wait, aren’t you in the wrong Common Room? How did you get the password?” And I’m all, “No, really guys, I’m a Slytherin. I have great potential for evil!” And they all laugh as I get more and more red-faced.
Words For Worms
Hahahahahahaha!
Darlene @ Lost in Literature
This is officially now my SECOND favorite post from you.
The first being the Books and Beverages post.
All these totes are adorable!
My beach bag is a small L.L.Bean Boat n Tote. They stand up on their own!
But water softens the canvas so it’s good for the beach but not the pool.
Instead of monogramming my name or initials I chose “Bookworm”.
Words For Worms
Ooooh I’m blushing! I LOVE your bag, thank you for posting a pic on the facebook page. It’s too wonderful not to share!
thatAshGirl
LOVE the banned books one.
But you forgot this baby http://beanblossom.typepad.com/blog/2011/11/etsyfinally.html
Words For Worms
Girl, check out my Zazzle store. You can get “I Like Big Books and I Cannot Lie” on a bag WITH the penguin! It’s magical.
kristinshafel
#6 and #7… want. And #10 is adorable! LOL. You reminded me I need to get a beach tote for my Hawaii trip in August! 🙂
Words For Worms
I am insanely jealous of your Hawaii trip. I expect a full report complete with cocktails sipped from hollowed out produce.
Monika @ Lovely Bookshelf
I love your Top Ten Twist!! These bags are great, especially the last one. 😉
Words For Worms
I’m partial to the last one myself, LOL.
Liesel Hill
What a great idea! Such fun bags. I have exactly one bag that says “League of Utah Writers” on it. I use it so often the bottom is wearing through. Time to buy me another (or several) bookish shoulder bags. 😀 My TTT
Words For Worms
You can’t have too many bookish shoulder bags, IMO.
AMB (Koiviolet)
These are great! I can never have too many tote bags. #10 is adorable! I also particularly the banned books one, though I do wonder if it’s wise for them to have To Kill a Mockingbird on it after Harper Lee’s trademark lawsuit against her hometown museum. That lawsuit could affect much more than just the museum.
Words For Worms
I read your post! What is WITH Harper Lee? I think she’s taking the cranky old person schtick a little too far…
AMB (Koiviolet)
It’s just a sad situation. The good news is that the Trademark Office denied her application, but it concerns me that the case is still going forward. Anyway, I do love that tote bag. I just hope Harper Lee doesn’t try to make the argument that it’s an unauthorized “endorsement”! I noticed that a To Kill a Mockingbird T-shirt on the same site (Out of Print) has been discontinued.
Heather
Look at you, you like rebel! Love it!
I totally want a Penguin bag. Because, hello! Penguins! And also Penguins. Which I collect. Not Penguins, but Penguins. I know you totally get this.
Words For Worms
I totally DO get this, which makes me giggle 🙂
Heather
I knew you would. Which makes ME giggle. 😀
Andi (@estellasrevenge)
Brillllliant! I’m a ho for bags. Almost as much as I #coverho.
Words For Worms
So, if a #coverho carries a bag, does that make it a hobag? I mean, you had to know that was coming, right? LOL.
Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian
I like how you switched up what the topic was; very clever! I love the Ravenclaw bag! I’m a slytherin according to Pottermore. I’ve never read Jane Austen, though I’m hoping to do that sometime soon!
Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian
Words For Worms
Jane is lovely. If you’re not usually big on classics, I recommend trying an audio version. I did that with my last Austen and it was a wonderful experience!
Rachel
LOVE your take on this weeks TTT – I have my eye on quite a few bookish items I’d love to buy 🙂
Words For Worms
I know! I want to buy them allllllllll!
Ashley
Cutest idea ever! Love it!
Words For Worms
Thanks! I had fun virtual shopping!
Laura
Love your take on the Top Ten! Some of those are super cute!
Words For Worms
Thanks 🙂 I am rather fond of them!
Marisa @ The Daily Dosage
Very clever! I’ll take the library card and Jane Austen ones please!
Words For Worms
Aren’t they fun?
Kim (Sophisticated Dorkiness)
I have the Penguin tote and I LOVE it. It’s the perfect size and is very sturdy.
Words For Worms
Man, you’re making my ordering finger all twitchy-like!
Leah @ Books Speak Volumes
I love this twist! And you should come to BEA next year — SO MANY TOTE BAGS. The best one I got was from Quirk Books, and it says “Totes Books” on it. It’s genius.
Words For Worms
Ha! I love a good pun. Perfection!
Trish
I totally need one of these bags!! Though choosing one would be way tough. I love the Little Women one but also the Garden in Your Pocket. You clever girl–what good is a book if you don’t have a tote to carry it in?!
Words For Worms
That’s what I was thinking. Totes rule!
Jennifer @ The Relentless Reader
I would like all of those, thanks! Actually, the Book Riot quarterly box came with a library card clutch type bag from Out of Print. I got that yesterday and was sooo excited 😀
RAVENCLAW!
Words For Worms
Ravenclaw is where it’s at!
Jenny @ Reading the End
Hahahaha, you’re a funny lady. I love the Ravenclaw bag! I want one of my own. My family recently underwent a big argument about what houses we’d all be (my brother-in-law said I’d be Hufflepuff, and I said nuh-uh, Ravenclaw, YOU’RE Hufflepuff), so we went on Pottermore to get a final answer. My mum’s a Slytherin, my brother-in-law’s a Hufflepuff (nailed it), and I’m a Ravenclaw, as I knew I would be.
Words For Worms
One of my coworkers went into Subway one day and the workers muttered “Hufflepuff” and started giggling. Then he realized they were “sorting” the customers… And that he was deemed Hufflepuff. They were wrong though. He’s probably Gryffindor. But that’s why they work at Subway, not as sorting hats.
Sarah @ Sarah Says Read
Ooohhhh I love what you did here. I love me some big, giant, tote bags / purses.
