Bookish Beach Bags (Top Ten Tuesday with a Twist)

June 3, 2014 Top Ten Tuesday 54

Happy Tuesday Bookworms!

This week the ladies of The Broke and the Bookish asked us to list out the top ten books we’d include in our beach bags… Which got me to thinking about beach bags, obviously. So instead of giving y’all a book list, I’m giving you a list of bookish beach bags! I’m a rebel, and a beach bag enthusiast.

toptentuesday

1. Alice Tote from Modcloth: How can you not love an Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland bag? It’s so WHIMSICAL!

alicetote2. Jane Eyre tote from Modcloth: Jane Eyre is one of the best characters in all of literature, who wouldn’t want her emblazoned on a tote bag? (review)

Beach bags rule, especially if they’re bookish. What’s on your beach bag?

I love the bags. Every year the Edinburgh Bookfest has really awesome bags with book quotes on them. So far I have three.

My beach bag has polka dots on it. That library card tote would be a perfect library bag! I’ve always thought I would be a Ravenclaw, but I took the very esteemed Sorting Hat test on Pottermore and it told me I was…. Slytherin. My mouth actually fell open.

    • Words For Worms

I’m very concerned now… I should probably check that out. Of course, the sorting hat takes your feelings into account, and I FEEL like a Ravenclaw… I’ll report back.

      • Words For Worms

WHEW! Pottermore put me in Ravenclaw. I suppose that’s official then :). It’s okay. Not ALL Slytherins are evil. You can be the nice one.

        • Megan M.

I’m that Slytherin that makes people go, “Wait, aren’t you in the wrong Common Room? How did you get the password?” And I’m all, “No, really guys, I’m a Slytherin. I have great potential for evil!” And they all laugh as I get more and more red-faced.

  3. Darlene @ Lost in Literature

This is officially now my SECOND favorite post from you.
The first being the Books and Beverages post.

    All these totes are adorable!
My beach bag is a small L.L.Bean Boat n Tote. They stand up on their own!
But water softens the canvas so it’s good for the beach but not the pool.
Instead of monogramming my name or initials I chose “Bookworm”.

  4. Liesel Hill

What a great idea! Such fun bags. I have exactly one bag that says “League of Utah Writers” on it. I use it so often the bottom is wearing through. Time to buy me another (or several) bookish shoulder bags. 😀 My TTT

  5. AMB (Koiviolet)

These are great! I can never have too many tote bags. #10 is adorable! I also particularly the banned books one, though I do wonder if it’s wise for them to have To Kill a Mockingbird on it after Harper Lee’s trademark lawsuit against her hometown museum. That lawsuit could affect much more than just the museum.

      • AMB (Koiviolet)

It’s just a sad situation. The good news is that the Trademark Office denied her application, but it concerns me that the case is still going forward. Anyway, I do love that tote bag. I just hope Harper Lee doesn’t try to make the argument that it’s an unauthorized “endorsement”! I noticed that a To Kill a Mockingbird T-shirt on the same site (Out of Print) has been discontinued.

  6. Heather

Look at you, you like rebel! Love it!

I totally want a Penguin bag. Because, hello! Penguins! And also Penguins. Which I collect. Not Penguins, but Penguins. I know you totally get this.

    • Words For Worms

Jane is lovely. If you’re not usually big on classics, I recommend trying an audio version. I did that with my last Austen and it was a wonderful experience!

  7. Rachel

LOVE your take on this weeks TTT – I have my eye on quite a few bookish items I’d love to buy 🙂

  8. Trish

I totally need one of these bags!! Though choosing one would be way tough. I love the Little Women one but also the Garden in Your Pocket. You clever girl–what good is a book if you don’t have a tote to carry it in?!

  9. Jenny @ Reading the End

Hahahaha, you’re a funny lady. I love the Ravenclaw bag! I want one of my own. My family recently underwent a big argument about what houses we’d all be (my brother-in-law said I’d be Hufflepuff, and I said nuh-uh, Ravenclaw, YOU’RE Hufflepuff), so we went on Pottermore to get a final answer. My mum’s a Slytherin, my brother-in-law’s a Hufflepuff (nailed it), and I’m a Ravenclaw, as I knew I would be.

    • Words For Worms

One of my coworkers went into Subway one day and the workers muttered “Hufflepuff” and started giggling. Then he realized they were “sorting” the customers… And that he was deemed Hufflepuff. They were wrong though. He’s probably Gryffindor. But that’s why they work at Subway, not as sorting hats.

  10. Sarah @ Sarah Says Read

Ooohhhh I love what you did here. I love me some big, giant, tote bags / purses.

Talk to me, Bookworms!
