What’s up, Bookworms?

I imagine things are wonderful, as here in North America, it’s finally SUMMER!!! (I can’t help but imagine Josh Gad belting right there. You just did too. Admit it.) This week this ladies of The Broke and the Bookish have asked us to list out what is on our pile o’ books to be read this summer. Grab your sunglasses and let’s do this!

1. Written in My Own Heart’s Blood by Diana Gabaldon- I’ve been looking forward to this for AGES. A cliffhanger at the end of the preceeding book has left me on edge for years!

2. Landline by Rainbow Rowell- When I get this book in my hands, I will very likely do a jig. I mean, it might not be a technically accurate jig, but it’ll have a whole lot of enthusiasm behind it. I’ll try to get the jig on video, but I can’t make any promises.

3. One Plus One by Jojo Moyes- Two words for you. Jojo. Moyes. I just can’t get enough!

4. Headhunters on My Doorstep by J Maarten Troost- It’s a travel memoir, which is new for me, but I have heard ALL the good things about Troost, so I’m excited.

5. The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin- Fellowship of the Worms pick, holla!

6. Prototype by MD Waters- I am STOKED about the followup to Archetype. I loved the crap out of that book. (review of Archetype)

7. The Major’s Daughter by JP Francis- Star crossed lovers in the form of an American girl and a German POW during WWII? Why yes, I will read that. Please and thank you.

8. Sinful Folk by Ned Hayes– This book was pitched with a comparison to The Red Tent. Sold! (review of The Red Tent)

9. The Fortune Hunter by Daisy Goodwin- Historical fiction, y’all! Courtly intrigue and whatnot. I’m looking forward to it.

10. Longbourn by Jo Baker- You guys! Jo Baker is coming to my local library! It’s my first ever author event, I’m so excited! And since I’ve had a copy of Longbourn sitting on my shelf for a while (thanks to Kelly at Read Lately for generously sending on her ARC) I need to read it before July 18th. Eeeeeeep!

    I have had The One Plus One by Jojo Moyes for almost 3 months! Haven’t read it yet. If you read it before me, I look forward to your thoughts. Your list of books looks interesting too – and some with nice covers!

    I saw Jo Baker speak about Longbourn at a writers’ festival earlier this year and she was very interesting. I hadn’t read the book so I wouldn’t stress too much. I hope you enjoy her visit.

    Looks like a great list! I’m also looking forward to Landline. I’m not sure what I’ll read next (much less over the rest of the summer). I have several unopened ebooks, but I might pick up something new and shiny. 🙂

    The new Cormoran Strike novel by Robert Galbraith AKA J.K. Rowling comes out in two days! I probably won’t get to read it that fast, but I’m excited! JK Rowling is my original Rainbow Rowell. She can do no wrong in my eyes!

    Speaking of Rainbow, of course I’m excited for Landline. And our Fellowship of the Worms pick sounds great!

    I can’t wait to read The Night Eternal, it is the last book in The Strain trilogy by Chuck Hogan & Guillermo Del Toro. I love spooky stuff in the summer, & the tv series is starting in July so I need to hurry! I also want to read Deeply Odd by Dean Koontz, I love the character of Odd Thomas.

    I haven’t heard of that Troost book, just his The Sex Lives of Cannibals (which of course I have not read…) This looks like a great list! Looking forward to reading your thoughts, especially on the Zevin, Moyes, and Troost books! 🙂

    You know, we don’t have any duplicates. That’s a good thing. Although I did love Daisy Goodwin’s debut, so I’ve been curious about her follow-up. So Katie, your mission is to read it and report back…I’ll be waiting.

    I need to add Landline to my list. I’ve got All Fall Down by Jennifer Weiner, The Matchmaker by Elin Hildebrand, I still haven’t read the new Jane Green, maybe Save the Date by Mary Kay Andrews, I think I need to read Jenny Mollen’s book – it looks interesting, and maybe The Vacationers by Emma Straub. As well as the last few Fellowship of the Worms books – I’m so behind on those! And I’m re-reading Anne Rice’s vampire series since Prince Lestat comes out in October. Squee!

    And then whatever paperbacks I pick up to read by the pool.
