It’s been a while since I put together a Mix Tape Masterpiece for y’all, so I think it’s about time. If you’re interested in how this went last time, you can check it out here. Are you ready?
1. Real Happy Family by Caeli Wolfson Widger = “Celebrity Skin” by Hole. Could this song BE any more perfect for this book? It’s the quintessential Hollywood wannabe anthem! It’s also proof that I’m sort of stuck in the 90s. (my review)
2. The Remedy by Thomas Goetz = “The Remedy” by Jason Mraz. In fairness, the only thing the book and the song have in common is a title. However. I can’t see the title without getting this song stuck in my head, so for me, they’re a pair.
3.What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty = “Once in a Lifetime” by The Talking Heads. Because amnesia. No really. Alice loses a good chunk of her memory and wanders around being pretty confused. It just goes with the song, you know? (my review)

Ok, I’m not sure if I replied to this before but here’s one that occurred to me.
Right after I finished reading The Stand, I heard “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” on the radio and I immediately thought of Stu and Tom and their long journey home, and Stu getting sick and Tom practically carrying him at times.
Sigh…
I’m really terrible about music. I had a very intense music period in middle-high school, but haven’t updated my tastes a whole lot since then. I am thoroughly stuck in the 90s, by and large.
That is GENIUS. Lake of Fire is arguably my favorite Nirvana song (though I don’t think I can technically attribute it to them because it’s originally a Meat Puppets tune.) I like to get my raspy voice on and belt it out with Kurt, unplugged.
There’s a zombie novel called “Red Hill” by Jamie McGuire and I literally cannot see/think about the title without hearing Placebo’s “Running Up That Hill” in my head. It’s happening right now.
I’m reading A Man Came Out of a Door in the Mountain by Adrianne Harun right now, and it’s all about the devil and the dark twisty side of this girl Hanna Swan, which fits perfectly with Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon.” It came on the other day and it instantly reminded me of the book.
It takes me awhile to think of something but you can bet about 2 in the morning it will hit me and I will wake up and think it is to darn early to begin typing away at the computer! But hopefully I will remember whatever book/song combination strikes me so I can come back here and share! Love this idea by the way ~ very creative!
